How Often Do Kids Get Hurt in Bounce Houses?
You’ve Heard the Stories
If you google this term, you will probably find a flurry of examples of children getting injured on, or by, a bounce house. Almost every single injury occurs from improper operation and usage of an inflatable. A shared effort between the bounce house company and the customer is necessary for a safe and happy inflatable experience.
Our Company Policy
- We don’t set up in windspeeds that are considered “unsafe.” While the manufacturers’ recommendations may vary per inflatable, the general guidelines for wind speeds are as follows: if the regular wind speeds or wind gusts exceed 25mph, inflatables CANNOT be set up. Some units may have a lower tolerance for wind speed and cannot be operated with winds above 20mph. For more information about wind speed and inflatable operation, click here. In the case of a cancellation due to bad weather, we give full refunds (including deposits).
- We don’t set up in rainy or stormy conditions.
- We utilize proper anchoring standards required by each inflatable.
- We take time to double-check and confirm visually (and with the customer) what potential hazards may exist in a yard. For example, tree branches or electric wires overhead, oil pipes underground, electric lines underground, irrigation systems, etc.
- We only set up on flat surfaces. We do our best to confirm that a flat space is available with our customers beforehand. We do this to ensure proper anchoring of all our inflatables.
What Can you Do to Prevent Injury?
- Make sure all the manufacturers’ recommendations are followed (weight limit, occupant capacity, age limits, etc.). You will find this information printed on the inflatable. For any questions, call Greg at 860-834-9438.
- Make sure no one has any food, gum, sharp objects, shoes, or jewelry in the inflatable.
- Keep kids from rough housing or performing any stunts or gymnastics. The play inside the bounce house should be limited to bouncing and sliding.
- Keep water away from any inflatable that is not explicitly designed to be used with water.
Following these guidelines will greatly reduce the risk of injury during the use of the inflatable. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Greg at 860-834-9438.
